The second edition of EPICENTER by Jacob Rosenberg is a single monograph combining essays and interviews with timeless photographs and video frames grabs from 1990-1993 at the historic EMB plaza.

This single volume, limited to 1000 copies, is presented in a sewn-bound, foil-block hardcover, with debossed text, tipped-in image of the Vaillancourt Fountain, and maroon-dipped page edges. It includes newly added archival photographs and is completed with a postcard of a commissioned painting of the Plaza by Eric Merrell.

The first half of this 284 page book features articles by Ted Barrow PH.D, Anthony G. Pappalardo & Kevin Wilkins accompanied by interviews from Rosenberg with Mike Carroll, Rick Ibaseta, James Kelch, Eric Merrell & Steve “Shrewgy” Ruge.

Following a selection of historic imagery of the plaza from 1926 and 1971 (courtesy of the San Francisco Public Library), the second half of the book features 50 (6 newly added) drum-scanned film photographs taken at Embarcadero, San Francisco. Alongside these images are 594 unseen, rare and iconic video frame grabs across six full bleed double page spreads.

This single comprehensive edition features an introduction by Jacob Rosenberg, followed by original essays from Ted Barrow Ph.D, Anthony G. Pappalardo, and Kevin Wilkins. Round table interview with Mike Carroll, James Kelch, and Rick Ibaseta. One-on-one interviews with Steve “Shrewgy” Ruge and artist Eric Merrell.

Following an interlude of historic plaza imagery, the second half of the book is comprised of Rosenberg’s original photo plates, as well as rare video frame grabs across six double-page spreads. The photo plates are printed on 150gsm art papers with spot gloss varnish.
